Hobbycraft - New Collection, American Crafts and New Project Life

Hobbycraft up-ed their game! How you may ask - but compared the US papercraft market - it's a significant step in a great direction.

The UK Crafting market is missing five things - a Tuesday Morning store, a Michaels store, a Hobby Lobby and a Joann's. I personally would also like a Daiso store as well, please! But Hobbycraft, the UK's biggest craft superstore has stepped up their game with their new range of paper pads and washi tapes, stocking American Crafts paper pads, ephemera, stickers and embellishments, as well as up-ping their Project Life stock with new sets and a good selection of album sizes and embellishments. That's not to say there could be room for improvement and more stock - BUT this is a great step in the right direction and I for one am really happy that it is available more locally, in store, online and to a wider UK market. It's a great move. Overdue. Bit's a great move neither less.

Let's start off with their new collection of paper pads - there are 8 to choose from and are available in 6 x 6 and 12 x 12 sizes.

The 8 available are: Watercolour, Geometric Gems, Mexican Madness, Ombre Array, Botanical Bliss, Rainbow Magic, Rustic Romance (Wedding) and Glitter Galore. The 6 x 6 pads are £5 and the 12 x 12 pads are £10

I personally bought the Botanical Bliss, Watercolour, Mexican Madness, Geometric Gems and Rainbow Magic paper pads. Great diverse range of papers and good quality card, rather than just thicker paper. Looking forward to creating some lovely cards and scrapbooking pages with these paper pads!

The next thing is Washi Tapes - they have more than a few to choose from - 35 to be exact! - WOW! With some matching the paper pad collections including Rainbow Magic and Botanical Bliss. A Huge range to choose from - with some containing words, patterns, bright colours, pastel shades, glitter and foiling. Beautiful range and available in 4 packs or 5 packs and a value price of £5 each for 5m of tape on each roll.

The next part is exciting (not that it isn't exciting already!) which is all about Hobbycraft's availability of US imported brands of past and present collections, these include Shimelle, Pebbles, Pink Paislee, Crate Paper and Jenn Hadfield. This is fantastic news and I hope that this won't be shortlived by Hobbycraft, especially as some of the current collections are available through some online stockists and are by all means not hugely budget-friendly. The UK in-store market is a little late to the game. Pink Paislee Fancy Free came out a few years ago in the US first and then in the UK - but the only way you could get it was through an online scrapbook stockist - Hey Little Magpie for example, or Papermaze - it would've have been great just to see this stocked in store, to hold it in your hand, flip through the pages, look at the collections, to have the experience of being amazed at walking into store and going 'Wow! They've got some great new collections' - and at competitor prices too. Now that Hobbycraft are stocking US brands - not all but some of the main ones - it's exciting! I look forward to going to my nearest store and looking at their stock, their new products, as well as talking to staff about it too - and sharing our mutual passion for crafting or scrapbooking - it's brilliant.

Hobbycraft are current stocking a variety of American Crafts brands:

Shimelle - Starshine and Little By Little
Pebbles - Lullaby and Tealightful
Pink Paislee - Oh My Heart, C'est La Vie and Fancy Free
Crate Paper - Oasis

A great selection of ephemera, embellishments, paper pads, die cuts and stickers - great colours, and some beautiful ideas you could create with all these products - I am super happy to see that it is readily available to purchase in-store and online.

Also an exciting part of the crafting community is Scrapbooking and Hobbycraft have up-ed their game with some new Project Life products.

They have started to stock a few design of 8 x 8 albums, page protectors to go with the new sized albums, as well as new value kits and embellishments - chipboard, stickers, ephemera - now available with kits, as well as different and additional stickers and embellishments you can buy separately.

Value Kits available: Bohemian, Life Inspired, Fill In The Blank, Fine and Dandy, Hopskotch and  Lucky Charm. They also have their previous core kits, value kits and past kits available online and in-store as well to provide a wider collection.

Hobbycraft have really stepped it up a notch with their new collection and the added addition of some American brands too and this is such a great step. A lot of UK crafters have been waiting for this for a long time, I am one of these crafters. I like to buy things, hoard them a little and then use them, but I love being able to invest in products and look at brands in store, crafters are in their element when in store, in a creative bubble, to be inspired by other crafters and staff who feel the same as they do - it's a huge community and I hope with Hobbycraft joining more UK stockists in providing US imports along with their brilliant UK counterparts, you'll always get people interested and inspired - and that is super important!

I hope you will visit your nearest Hobbycraft if you are in the UK or shop online from the comfort of your home as well. You can look for your nearest store via the website at: www.hobbycraft.co.uk

Seven Hills Crafts (UK)

Seven Hills Crafts, formerly 'Make A Day Special' is a craft website dedicated to all your crafting needs based in Sheffield, UK. They sell US imported stamps from well known brands such as Lawn Fawn, Mama Elephant, Concord and 9th, Paper Smooches, Waffle Flower, My Favorite Things, Neat and Tangled and various other worldwide stamps, dies, and papercrafts to the UK market. This site is a God send. I make at least one order a week to these guys and if I had more money I would gladly give it to them! To be able to obtain and buy US stamps, dies and craft materials in the UK without having to pay overseas shipping is ama-zing - I only have to pay one price and no other price additional to what I am already paying in postage. The site used to be called 'Make a Day Special' before the name change which happened at the start of this year (2016) They rebranded from the previous UK based colours of red, white and blue, and the site and logos now have a bright and fre...
