Questions and Answers

Hey everyone! As a starting block on my brand new website / blog, I thought I would uncover a previous craft questionnaire which featured as a post on my other craft blog. I see this as a ‘Getting-To-Know-You’ Q + A post, as such! So let’s get started…

How did you get into crafting?
I was in college at the time, which was around 16 years old and I handmade a birthday card for a friend of mine and he really, really liked it. My art skills back then was nothing short of rather bland, so I can only assume then, that he was being super nice! From then on, I haven’t looked back

How do you find your inspiration?
Other crafters. Seems pretty boring really, but that’s how I get inspired – by watching, reading, seeing other crafters’ work, projects, videos. Its great seeing crafters using their creative skills as a living and making projects, and investing in new tools and equipment for even more projects, it’s brilliant.

How do you combat creative blocks?
Social Media and YouTube. Pinterest is a great starter, I’ll search for themes, similar things I am looking for, stamp sets I’m interested in, dies I like, scrapbooking layouts. I’ll then give myself time to readjust as well and then when the mood suits – I will start to put things together. I don’t plan ahead, I’m a spontaneous paper crafter and will go with a flow.

Crafting essentials?
A die cutting machine, a few stamp sets, a good black ink pad, some washi tapes and one or two scrapbooking pads.

What are your main types of crafting?
It’s mainly card making, but I do scrapbook from time to time and at the moment taking on the challenge of Project Life.

Advice for a new crafter?
Get as much inspiration as you can. Themes, the type of styles you like, colours. The thing with paper crafting and scrapbooking is that things change ALL THE TIME. A new technique will be used for stamping one week, the next month someone else will come up with a different or better method. Making cards when I was in my late teens has changed significantly, and so have the products that I used to use. When you begin you want to BUY EVERY SINGLE THING, but to be honest with time this will decrease and you’ll be pickier about what you’ll buy according to what style and type of paper craft you want to do and create.

They sell US imported stamps from well known brands such as Lawn Fawn, Mama Elephant, Concord and 9th, Paper Smooches, Waffle Flower, My Favorite Things, Neat and Tangled and various other worldwide stamps, dies, and papercrafts to the UK market. This site is a God send. I make at least one order a week to these guys and if I had more money I would gladly give it to them! To be able to obtain and buy US stamps, dies and craft materials in the UK without having to pay overseas shipping is ama-zing - I only have to pay one price and no other price additional to what I am already paying in postage. The site used to be called 'Make a Day Special' before the name change which happened at the start of this year (2016) They rebranded from the previous UK based colours of red, white and blue, and the site and logos now have a bright and fre...
